I was recently given a Gibson ES-125 and would love to keep it around for a while. Should I keep the strings on? Keep it dry or humid? What else needs to be done to maintain it?
If stored in its case I would loosen the strings a bit that way before you play it will be easier to clean any dust that is located around the pickups.
I do not know about this model but my DH has several guitars one of which is his grandfathers. On the wooden bodies he will periodically dust and wax it with bowling alley wax. Additionally too much humidity could possibly warp something which is not good but too dry can dry out the wood, you really want a happy medium. But dry is easier to counteract by inspecting your instrument and using an appropriate wood moisturizer or wax more often.

I'm looking for these guitars to collect however it seems there aren't many in Malaysia and most are either reissues or new ones. Do help me out. Thank you
This is quite a number of specialised shops selling music instruments in Malaysia. there is one shop in LG of Sunway Pyramid, one shop in Harvey Norman (next to the Pet Safari), and one another that i remember in Level 1 of Subang Parade. Surprise to hear you can't find what you want. For the vintage if they don't sell it at their premise, they can always source it for you. All you need to do is ask them to seek or order one for you. Of course you need to pay a little search fee for the service.

Wow… if I had that guitar, I wouldn't want to change a thing about it. That's just me, though.
As for the question, I've never messed with (or needed or wanted to) the finishes on my guitars, but you can read the pages I'm listing below, ask the guys on guitarists.net (they can answer just about any question you can think of about guitar alterations and tell them Lyra sent you - they may or may not remember me, as it has been a while since I've been on), or talk to a guitar tech.

Up for sale is this vintage Gibson Tube guitar amp. The listing is here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120223598523&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=002 I am playing my Lotus strat copy through it. I am using a noise gate to try to quiet down the single coils, but as you can see that didn’t work out too good.

I’m looking for the value of a very old Gibson Acoustic with a model number DG-3632 on the back. If you can give me some advice on where to go, that’d be great!
I’ve seen some for $4,000 but that depends on how vintage and in what type of “good” condition they are in. Call a guitar shop and ask them how much they would take it for or how much they would recommend you selling it for, then if you liked their price you could sell it to them (if they want it) and if not put it on ebay for $100 less and let them bid on it. You will probably get more for it on ebay than you would from a guitar shop. or you could look on google for collectors that you think would be interested in buying it. hope i helped. i have a 6-string fender acoustic!
a friend of mine gave me a Gibson melody maker and according to the serial number its from 1967, made in Nashville U.S.A. its in pretty good condition and im trying to figure out its price range. Its got sort of a wine red paint finish. It also has no pick guard.
Here is the serial number>>00303528
also this info may help.
it says "Made in The U.S.A" on the back of the headstock
both the serial number and the "made in the usa" are imprinted on the headstock(no decal or ink stamp)
AAAHHH!! CORRECTION!! ITS FROM 1976!! NOT 1967!!……….YES…TYPE-O…
=\
maybe 4000-5000 dollars

A closer look at instruments used in mandolin orchestras in the early 20th Century…. Acoustic superpickers Tim May and David Harvey brought out their personal vintage Gibson collections at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on June 27, 2007, for a powerful demonstration of the beauty and enduring quality of these old treasures. In Chapter One, May plays a 1917 Gibson L-4 Guitar while Harvey plays a March 31, 1924, signed Lloyd Loar Gibson F-5 Mandolin with Virzi Tone Producer. The tune is David Grisman’s “Cedar Hill”.
